This week’s Card of the Week was beautifully crafted by John Lockwood, featuring the elegant Brickwork die as the centrepiece. Here’s how he brought this stunning design to life
Crafting the Base:
- John started with a 5 1/2” square piece of coconut white card, perfectly prepped to hold his intricate details.
Die-Cutting the Brickwork:
- He then cut the Brickwork die into the centre of the card, creating a striking textured element that forms the foundation of this design.
Creating the Sepia-Toned Background:
- For the background, John used a blending brush to sweep Versafine Vintage Sepia across a white card square, giving it a warm, antique feel that contrasts beautifully with the crisp white brickwork.
Layering for Depth:
- The brickwork die-cut was carefully glued over the sepia background, adding depth and visual interest to the card.
Designing the Poinsettia:
- Next, John crafted a stunning Ink It Poinsettia from white card, gently curling the petals for a realistic touch. He coloured the centre with green ink and finished the flower by placing delicate pearls at its heart.
Adding Leafy Flourishes:
- To complement the poinsettia, he cut and added lush green leaves, positioning them around the flower to enhance the design’s festive feel.
Finishing Touches:
- A heartfelt sentiment was stamped onto a white strip of card, then added to the arrangement, bringing a personal touch to the card. Finally, John assembled everything onto a 6” square card blank, tying the entire creation together.
