This week’s Card of the Week is the beautiful Hanging Bauble, inspired by Debbie Sherwood. Using the Nellie Snellen Doodle Egg Embossing Folder and matching stencil, this card showcases intricate textures and delicate details, perfect for adding a festive touch to your projects!

Emboss and Stencil:

  • Take a square of chocolate canvas card and emboss it using the Doodle Egg Embossing Folder.
  • Place the matching stencil over the embossed area.
  • Using Mica Magic Fusion Shades and a finger dauber, blend browns and copper tones over the embossed surface to enhance the texture.

Prepare the Background:

  • Cut a piece of chocolate card to 5 1/2” x 7 1/2”.
  • Cut a piece of rose copper card to 5” x 7”.
  • Layer the rose copper card on top of the chocolate card, leaving an even border around the edges. Secure with adhesive.

Create the Frame:

  • Using the Press Cut Rectangle Dies, take the 6” x 4” die (Number 10) and cut out the centre of the layered card to create a frame, as shown.

Make the Pinecones:

  • Cut the detailed pinecone shapes from chocolate card and the solid pinecone shapes from rose copper card using the appropriate dies.
  • Layer and glue them together to form dimensional pinecones.

Add the Bauble Effect:

  • Place a strip of beige 3mm ribbon above the embossed “egg” design to create the illusion of a hanging bauble.
  • Add a bow where the ribbon meets the bauble.
  • Attach the pinecones beneath the bow for added detail.

Assemble the Card:

  • Attach the completed design onto a 6” x 8” Kraft card blank.
